The Palette is the most convenient way to access all the features of CopyPaste and to learn how it works.
You can show or hide the Palette in 3 ways:
1. Hold down the 竚 key while hitting the C then P keys (竚 C P).
2. Select the item "Palette" from the CopyPaste Utilities menu.
3. Type the 竚 C and click while continuing to hold down the 竚 key. When you do this to show the Palette, the Palette will be placed where you have the marker.
Repeating any command will show or hide the palette.
Clicking in the zoom box toggles the Palettes size from expanded to contracted. The individual screen positions for both are remembered through restarts. When the Palette is in its small size (after hitting the zoom box in the top right corner), then clipboards with data will have a gray background and empty clipboards will be white. This indicator lets you see which clipboards are empty and which are full, since you can't see the data in the contracted palette.
Each clipboard has a button C for Copy and P for Paste. Option-clicking on any of the Palettes C buttons cuts a selection. Option-clicking on a P button pastes the clip and empties that clipboard.
Clicking in the content area opens the Clipboard Viewer. The Clipboard Viewer lets you view more of the contents of the clipboard. It also allows you to see a picture and to hear a sound. See the Clipboard Viewer chapter for more details.
You can move the clips which you can see in the content area of the Palette around via Drag and Drop. If you Drag and Drop a clip to a different clipboard, this will exchange the two clips. If you drag any item to the Palette, it will be converted to clipboard data (if possible) which you can paste anywhere. Any file can be dragged to the Palette, but it will only read the content of Text, Pict and Sound files: with other formats only a little file info is read in and displayed in the Clipboard Viewer. Dragging a clip out of the Palette is not possible in version 4.0.
The Question Mark: Online Help is available from the ? button at the bottom of the Palette. It has all the data in this manual. Option-click on the button shows the "About" box.
The Preferences: The Preferences icon (left of the question mark) opens the Preferences dialog box. More details are available in the preference section, below. Hold the cursor over an item for an explanation of what it does. We recommend the default settings when beginning to use CopyPaste.
The Floppy: Brings up a dialog to save the current ClipSet. This means that all 10 clipboards are saved to a file on disk. Sets can be created for use with different applications. Also once you save a set it can be passed on and opened by other CopyPaste users.
The Open Folder: Clicking the Open Folder button lets you load an already saved ClipSet. This gives you the option of having different ClipSets which you can load at any time. Saved ClipSets can be made available to others on a network. This feature is only available for registered users.
The Cassette/Clover Leaf: Clicking on the cassette button switches to the Clip Recorder view. Clicking on the clover leaf button switches back to the Clip Extender view. Clip Recorder contains the last 10 copies with the regular 竚 c. More info can be found in the Clip Recorder chapter.
The Trash Can: Clicking on the trash allows you to delete all clips. To delete a single clip, option-click on it.
The following icons will drop down menus for the different CopyPaste Utilities.
The A button: a Text utilities drop-down menu is located here.
The Pict button: Pict utilities can be accessed from this drop-down menu.
The Time button: these Time/Date utilities can insert and convert dates and times.
The Wrench button: miscellaneous utilities can be found here.
The @ button: handy internet utilities are operated from this drop-down menu.
The document button: add text to the Clip Archives here.
